The Andrea da Ponte distillery at Vinitaly 2019

The 53rd Vinitaly international wine and spirit exhibition recently came to a close. Every year, it attracts thousands of visitors and more than 4,000 exhibitors to its host city of Verona.

At this year’s event, the Andrea Da Ponte distillery presented one of the most significant additions to its selection: Riserva del Fondatore. It appeared alongside the ginger-flavoured Amaro 33 and the distillery’s essential core range of five exceptional products.

However, the main focus at Vinitaly 2019 was on Vecchia Grappa di Prosecco, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The distillery organized a series of events and promotions to mark the occasion, both live and on social media. In addition, it unveiled a “Riserva” that has been aged for 20 years. The genuinely inimitable spirit uniquely sums up just what a great idea Pier Liberale Fabris had back in the 1960s, when he decided to make single-varietal grappa from Prosecco grapes and age it for eight years in oak barrels from Limousin.
